Q:

Do you offer trial versions of XL Reporter (XLR) Budgeting for evaluation purposes?

A:
  1. No. We do not offer trial versions. We will do our best to help you evaluate XLR to insure that it meets your reporting, budgeting & consolidation needs.
  2. Money back guarantee on specific reports. If you're concerned that it will not create specific critical reports for your business you're welcome to send us sample reports and we will confirm whether or not XLR can create those reports for you.

Q:

Are there any budget templates that come with the software?

A:
  1. Yes. There are some sample budget templates available.
  2. Also if you're engaging one of Solver's sr consultants for onsite training they will work with you to create the foundation of your budget template during the training.

Q:

Will a person entering their own budget need a license of XLR to budget?

A:
  1. No. Usually one concurrent user of XLR (for the person in charge of the whole budget process) is enough to handle the entire budget process because a department head entering their own budgets would simply be entering them in a regular Excel budget spreadsheet. However, the Excel budget template would have logic encoded which would tell XLR what Department, Account, Budget Version, etc to save that budget figure back to.

Q:

After entering all the budgets for various departments how can I get rolled-up reporting on the budgets?

A:
  1. Once the budget data is directly written back to the Budget tables within the GL of your ERP system then it's simply “data”. You can then use the Report Writer module of XLR to simply generate a report/query of your budgets, actual amounts, etc.
  2. And you have many options in terms of how to roll-up the reporting on the budget figures. You could build a department parameter in your reports to prompt which departments you'd like rolled-up for reporting on the budget amounts.
  3. Multiple Databases: If you have multiple databases then you can get consolidated reporting across company databases by using the GL Consolidation module to get a consolidated budget for the whole Corporation or any selection of your different company databases.

Q:

Does XLR-Budgeting handle budgeting in greater detail than account level budgeting?

A:
  1. With XLR-Budgeting your ERP database is your ‘data-warehouse” for not only all the actual amounts but also for all of your budget amounts. Thus you're only able to ‘write-back' to budget tables for accounts that your GL is broken down to.
  2. However, you can budget in more detail by storing the detailed information in Excel spreadsheets (which is probably what you're currently doing) or you can import in your budget templates and store them as Budget Books within XLR.
