Description
This dashboard looks both inward to your own financials and outward to an outside company's financials. In other words, it is an example of a comparative analysis (“benchmarking”) between two companies. The most unique feature of the dashboard is that it uses a technology called Web Services to automatically load any public company's financials into the dashboard, and thereby giving a comparison to your own company's data. The only action required by the user is to key in a stock ticker (stock exchange symbol) and the dashboard will immediately retrieve the financials of the company. In addition, the dashboard will load today's news headlines (see bar at bottom of the screen) for the selected company and scroll these headlines across the screen. The user can select a headline and this will launch a new web browser window and retrieve the entire article from related news service on the Web.
Management Value
Using this type of dashboard, it is faster and easier than ever before for an executive to compare own financial information with competitors and any other company with public financial statements. The news ticker is just an added benefit to give an executive more of a 360 degree view of the company they have selected to analyze. Similar analysis would typically take days to prepare for managers, and would never be as up-to-date. Now, without any assistance, senior managers can analyze and compare to competitors' financials within seconds of these being published to the public.
