Challenge
The controller was continually waiting on IT for Crystal or ExcelWriter reports to be created when he came across XL Reporter. When he realized that XL Reporter (XLR) was easy enough for accountants to create their own reports he jumped at the opportunity to have mastery & control of creating much needed reports from the accounting system. It was an easy decision to select XLR over the other report writers he had been evaluating, due to the ease of use and the ability to report across modules of the ERP system.
Solution
“Minutes after installing XLR, I was able to create a simple aging report that would normally take three days to get from IT,” said Jim Merecki (Controller). “Within the first month I have replaced all FRx financial statements with reports from XLR.” Within two months he created 35 reports completely on his own by modifying some of the 80+ report templates currently available. Going forward he plans to further utilize the capabilities of XLR to greatly enhance efficiency & analytical reporting. Furthermore, he has plans to automate two highly labor intensive reporting processes: iso-metric reporting and complex commission reporting.
