Hafslund Sikkerhet AS is a subsidiary of Hafslund ASA ( www.hafslund.no ), which is one of the largest Nordic listed companies and a leader in electricity and security. Hafslund Sikkerhet plays a major role in the security services market and in contracting. With 2000 employees, the company offers various services within the security business, such as money transportation, monitoring premises, guarding, high-technology monitoring systems etc. Hafslund Sikkerhet is Norway's third largest security company and is also Norway's largest in the field of money transportation. In addition, it provides the corporate market with security solutions.
Challenge
Hafslund Sikkerhet consists of three subsidiaries and they all implemented Microsoft Business Solutions Axapta in the summer of 2002. The implementation period of Axapta was tough because Hafslund Sikkerhet is a young corporation (in contrast to the ancient corporation Hafslund) and is growing really fast. “We had to develop Axapta to cover both the need for financial reporting related to the stock exchange, but also to satisfy the need to give us the strategic "following-up" tool (such as product profitability, customer profitability, project profitability etc). We soon realized that the reporting possibilities in Axapta were too static and insufficient. We asked our Axapta supplier for advice and was recommended to have a look at iLytix XL Reporter,” explains Marit Johannesen, Chief Financial Controller at Hafslund Sikkerhet.
Solution
“We experienced that iLytix XL Reporter is a very dynamic tool and it gave us analysis very quickly,” she continues. “We have actually decided to stop further development of reports in Axapta and instead we use iLytix XL Reporter as the main tool. Both our Accounting department and the Controller department use iLytix XL Reporter. This fall, we have also used iLytix XL Reporter as our budgeting tool, and we are very satisfied. iLytix XL Reporter gives us the opportunity to "cut and slice" the business as we please, and furthermore we have the full drill-down opportunity. We use iLytix XL Reporter both for monthly reporting and for ad-hoc analysis purposes and we are now composing reporting packages that will be distributed continuously throughout 2004.”
The Hafslund corporation is listed on the stock exchange and for the external reporting they use a consolidation tool called Frango (very similar to Hyperion) with its own corporate chart of accounts. Hafslund uses iLytix XL Reporter to convert their chart of accounts to the Frango setting automatically. Hafslund have also made check reports to have full comparison between the corporate Frango system and their Axapta system.
